Description
Not Iodized, No Iodine.
Sodium Chloride and Sodium are critical electrolytes for nerve impulse pulse, muscle function and thirst response (hydration). For maintenance 28 grams per head per day meets this requirement per 1,100 lb. horse (approx. 1-1.5 tablespoons). Commonly referred to as table salt or sodium chloride. It is a fine grained, white crystalline form.
Even though not mandatory, it can safeguard against sweat production, workload or an increase in ambient temperature that may increase requirements. Sodium is excreted through urine although, providing free choice can be problematic unless free choice water is adequately provided.
